Enjoy a breathtaking view of Grand Traverse Bay and beyond, as far as Leelanau County and Charlevoix, and learn about this 312-acre property’s diverse habitats, including 64 acres of wetlands and 7,100 feet of stream frontage. This expansive property could soon become a crown jewel in the area's outdoor recreation network. With an elevation of roughly 880 feet, it is one of the highest points in Grand Traverse County. Come prepared for a 2.5-mile hike on strenuous terrain, which will take approximately 2 hours of walking time and five information stops. <image:caption>“Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World” Directed by Sasha Waters 91 mins Saturday Night Gala presented by Keen Technical Solutions and Short’s Brewing Company Michigan Premiere with Special Guests: filmmaker Sasha Waters in conversation with journalist Beth Milligan When Mary Oliver was a young girl, “dead poets” were her friends. Godchild of Walt Whitman and godparent to us all, Oliver led her readers to know the world and themselves better. Director Sasha Waters explores and honors Oliver’s life, giving us the chance to encounter her on her own terms. Through interviews with Provincetown friends, including John Waters, and a wealth of archival footage, a fuller portrait of Oliver emerges—as a queer woman, nature lover, dog devotee, and Pulitzer Prize-winner—is written. Stephen Colbert, Lucy Dacus, and Jason Reynolds are among those who recite her work and reflect on her significance. In the end, Mary Oliver did not simply visit this world; she changed it by showing us our connection to it—as humans, clams, and ants—and her legacy lives on. 2026 World Premiere True/False Film Festival General Admission / First-Come First-Served Seating Bar Service and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Available Ticket Code: COH02</image:caption>

Just like in the body, natural communities thrive when the flow is swift and pure and healthy. But just like a body, rivers are there to be used. The native tribes say; think like a river, and you will bring health to her and all she touches. Others say that rivers are tools to be used for efficient support of modern civilization, and should be maximized in such use. Whose perspective is right? Is there a way to do both? <image:title>FCFF/tc Program - “Nuisance Bear” / Feature Documentary - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>Nuisance Bear 2026 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Winner for U.S. Documentary Directed by Gabriela Osio Vanden and Jack Weisman 90 mins A polar bear is forced to navigate a human world of tourists, wildlife officers, and hunters as its ancient migration collides with modern life. When a sacred predator is branded a nuisance, it becomes unclear who truly belongs in this shared landscape. Set in Churchill, Manitoba — affectionately known as the “Polar Bear Capital of the World” — the result is a striking portrait of the fraught coexistence between polar bears and humans, guided by an Inuit narrator whose insights resist simplification. There is a thrill in watching a polar bear outwit human efforts to contain it, underscoring the bears’ resilience and the fragility of the systems that attempt to control them. By challenging the conventions of a nature documentary and favoring confrontation over moralism, Nuisance Bear invites us to reconsider our assumptions about wildlife as spectacle.
<image:caption>“A Two Hearted Tale” Directed by Rory K. McHarg and Bret Miller 41 mins Bell’s Two-Hearted Ale is America’s No.1 IPA. The now infamous & iconic trout image is found in every convenience store nationwide. The legends behind this label and many others have been buried in folklore for nearly 40 years, but the vision created at Bell’s started a revolution in the craft brewing industry that changed what a beer label could be. This is the unconventional story of an artist whose love of fishing, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and beer found its way into every store in America. Dave Chapelle, during a comedy set in Kalamazoo said aloud, “Why the hell did you put a fish on the label?” However, eccentric artist Ladislav Hanka’s reasoning is simple yet personal. Its industry collapsed, its skyline dimmed. Yet the city’s spirit refused to vanish. Some call what followed the greatest comeback story in the nation. Others insist Detroit never left at all. Now, through the eyes of a two-time Emmy Award–winning filmmaker and the voice of a celebrated poet, comes a story told from the ground up. <image:caption>24 Leeches Directed by Aaron Peterson 10 mins This is a family camping story told by my son Josiah. The film takes place during a 10-day canoeing and camping trip to the Slate Islands of Ontario, Canada on Lake Superior. It was scripted from campfire conversations about life, climate change and the natural world that we shared during this and other trips. The film was originally produced in 2018 but not released because I didn’t think it was finished, but in August 2019 Josiah passed away due to a fungal brain infection contracted during treatment for leukemia. He was 10 years old. Now the film has become a memorial to my best friend and adventure buddy, a very special kid that experienced more in his decade than many do in a full life.
