“Guided Tour of Fish/Pass”
Outdoor Tours and Experiences Sponsored by Kayak, Bike & Brew and TC Brew Bus
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm / Renedezvous Point Near Union Street Dam
One of the county’s most cutting-edge research projects is taking shape in Traverse City. FishPass is an experimental fish passage system being constructed along the Boardman/Ottaway River at the site of the Union Street Dam in downtown Traverse City. This innovative project will allow desirable native fish to swim upstream to Lake Michigan while blocking invasive species, particularly sea lamprey, using advanced technology and behavioral cues. Brett Fessel of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and Frank Dituri from the City of Traverse City will lead a guided tour of FishPass, sharing the science and history of the project and the latest on construction progress.
Presented with support from Great Lakes Fishery Commission / FishPass and the City of Traverse City, Michigan
Limited to 25 Participants
